The widely used MC7800 family of devices are meant to be supplemented by the MC7900 series of fixed output negative voltage regulators.
The same seven voltage settings for these negative regulators are also offered for the MC7800 devices. Additionally, the negative MC7900 series offers a common additional voltage option used in MECL systems. These regulators use current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe-area compensation, making them astonishingly tough under most operating situations. They are available in fixed output voltage options from 5.0 V to 24 V. They are capable of delivering output currents more than 1.0 A with sufficient heatsinking.
